GlenApostle Dr. Love Emmanuel is a respected Nigerian minister, Bible teacher, author, mentor, and humanitarian whose life tells a remarkable story of faith, perseverance, and God’s transforming grace. She was born on 3 October 1950 into a large Islamic polygamous family in the North Central region of Nigeria. As the fifth child in a household with many children, she grew up in an environment shaped by strong cultural traditions and the realities of life in a polygamous home. Her father had six wives during his lifetime, although only four lived with him at any given time. Life in such a large family came with many challenges, yet those early experiences helped build the resilience and strength that later became evident in her life and ministry.
Although she began life in a traditional Muslim home, God had already prepared a different path for her. Her journey from that humble beginning to becoming a respected Christian leader stands as a powerful testimony of divine purpose. Today, her story continues to inspire countless people to trust God, remain steadfast during difficult seasons, and believe that no background can limit what God is able to accomplish.
Early Education
Apostle Dr. Love Emmanuel spent her childhood in a traditional community where the extended family played a major role in raising children. Following the customs of the time, relatives took responsibility for raising many children within the family. She grew up in the household of one of her stepmothers and became one of only three of her father’s children who remained in the family home.
Those early years were not easy. Although she lived in the same compound as her biological mother, she grew up without knowing her as her mother. The separation deprived her of the warmth and affection every child longs for and left a lasting impression on her childhood.
Her father placed little value on Western education and never intended to send his children to school. When she reached the age of 12, however, the family realized they needed someone who could read and interpret letters for members of the household. That practical need opened the door for her to begin primary school. What seemed like a simple family decision became the beginning of a life-changing journey. God used that opportunity to lay the foundation for the extraordinary future He had prepared for her.
As a child born into Islam, she also received Qur’anic education. She faithfully learned to recite passages from the Quran and practiced the Islamic faith throughout her early life. Even so, she later acknowledged that she did not fully understand many of the teachings she memorized. She remained a committed Muslim until the age of 44, when she encountered the saving grace of Jesus Christ. That encounter transformed her life completely and marked the beginning of a new chapter defined by faith, purpose, and a personal relationship with God.
Her life was also marked by seasons of deep pain and unimaginable loss. She lost her parents, sisters, and several other family members under unusual circumstances that no one could easily explain. Their deaths came without obvious illness and left the family devastated. Not long afterward, she also suffered from a mysterious illness that brought her close to death.
In the midst of those painful experiences, God intervened in a remarkable way. Through her newly found faith in Jesus Christ, she found strength, hope, and victory over fear. She stood firmly on God’s Word and refused to surrender to despair. The Lord preserved her life, restored her strength, and gave her the courage to overcome every attack that threatened her future. While evil claimed the lives of many members of her family, God’s grace protected her and became a living testimony of His power and faithfulness.
Those experiences shaped the woman she would later become. They deepened her faith, strengthened her dependence on God, and prepared her for a lifetime of ministry. Today, Apostle Dr. Love Emmanuel shares her testimony to encourage others that no hardship is beyond God’s power to redeem. Her life reminds people that even the darkest seasons can become the beginning of a greater purpose when they place their trust in God.
Childhood & Background
In 1966, at the age of 16, she passed the Common Entrance Examination. The achievement brought widespread celebration throughout the town, and residents presented her with gifts because she became the first female in the community to pass the examination.
However, for some inexplicable reason, she was unable to attend any secondary school. Her educational journey however did not end there as she subsequently obtained a Higher National Diploma and other certificates.
